British Friends of the Hebrew University honour Sir Sigmund Sternberg KCSG

On Wednesday 22 Nov 2011 The British Friends of the Hebrew University honoured Sir Sigmund Sternberg KCSG with an Honorary Fellowship of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, established in 1925,  is Israel’s ‘Harvard’ and a top 60 world university noted for leading edge research and with 7 Nobel prize Winners to its name. It collaborates extensively across all continents sharing know how and expertise.

A remarkable man, Sir Sigmund has an amazing history.  Fleeing Hungary for the UK in 1938 having to restart his life building a successful business career later developing a profound interest in inter-faith tolerance. The Three Faiths Forum was founded. He extended this interest to establishing a fund at the University supporting annual prizes and a keynote lecture to help promote inter-religious understanding.  Over 60 prizes have been awarded since 1997. Sir Sigmund has recently enjoyed his 90th birthday
